I just got a VisionTek R7 260X 2Gb card to replace my HD 5770 1Gb. I removed the drivers and catalyst stuff, then powered down. Swapped out the cards and the machine would hang at the first bios screen. I noticed that my usb lights on my keyboard weren't on and swapped over to an old keyboard thats not usb. then machine still hung at the bios screen. I then removed all usb devices and the computer booted to the login screen then gets stuck in a loop on rebooting, goind to the login screen then rebooting again. Took the card out check that I had it seated and hooked up right. Still doing the same thing. Then I swapped back to my old card and plugged in my usb stuff and it boots like normal with the old card. I dont get it. My motherboard is a ECS A780gm-a v1.1, I have 4Gb of DDR2 Ram, An Antec Pure power 550 power supply and an audigy 2 ZS funning windows 7 64. Help PLease

Very odd. If you can, try the GPU in another rig to see if it behaves oddly (preferably a PC that has similar specs in regards CPU and RAM at least).

I have limited experience but I would say if anything was "wrong" with your motherboard it would only be that it is not compatible with that card (for reasons beyond my knowledge of motherboards, which is not great to say the least ;) ) since it has no issues running without that new GPU or your old one.

Make sure your Motherboard bios is up to date.

If that doesn't do the trick then try using your new GPU without any USB stuff AND without your SoundBlaster plugged in.
If that works I'd say you have some kind of IRQ conflict (didn't think that was possible these days but these problems and results point to that being the issue to me...)

My bios is up to date although it was realeased in 2010 there havent been any new updates since. I tried what you said an its still stuck in the loop. Even though I meet all the requirements for my R7 Im starting to wonder if this board is just too old. Maybe I can find a 3rd party bios to try. Thanks for the suggestion.

So I got it running. I think there might be something seriously wrong with my motherboard. I had to disable usb stuff in the bios, after all usb things were disabled and unplugged from the motherboard I was able to get to the bios. Id goto start and couldnt get into windows. The system restore stuff said I had a corrupt mbr, The system restore couldnt find a windows install on my drive. I was stumped. SO i thought Id turn on my onboard video and see if it did it again. It booted into windows and started. Odd huh
