Hi everyone, I currently have an MSI radeon 6950 graphics card and my two monitors work out fine one connecting via HDMI and the other one connected via DVI-D, but when my third monitor gets connected via mini display to HDMI, windows 8 detects the monitor and the monitor knows the cable is plugged in but there is no display detected and it does not let me add another monitor to my display. I bought my mini display adapter from best buy and im not sure if its active or not. Any help on how to get my third monitor up and running would be much appreciated. Thank you.

this question has been asked and answered HUNDREDS of times here. dozens by me. it is right there on AMD.com and your user manual. you MUST use an active display port adapter for the third monitor. you are using a passive adapter. read the manual. use an active adapter

I am having the same problem, I am using a Radeon HD 6850 1GB GDDR5 with twin DVI ports, one HDMI port, one DisplayPort. How do I tell if I'm buying a passive or active adapter? Some adapters are $49 while some are just $6. But how to tell active or passive besides buying the more expensive one assuming THAT would be the active adapter?
