Hi forum
I recently build a new computer for my friend, but for some reason the GPU can't be detected at all. I tried installing drive from the original CD, downloading from AMD site, reset bios, change a different pci slot. I know the GPU is getting power because the fans is spinning. But it just can't be detected at all and I have to plug my screens to the motherboard. Please help guys I'm really out of ideas

Intel I5 3570k 3.4GHz
MSI Z77A-G41 LGA 1155
Asus DirectCU II Radeon HD 7790 2GB-128Bit
Corsair CX series CX430 430W 80 Pluse Bronze

Yes I had it plug into the GPU. and with this motherboard, I don't think it gives you the option to choose between onboard graphics or not since its auto i believe.

It is, but I know that chip has a built in videocard.

If you are plugging your screen into the motherboard, that's a really good sign it's using the onboard and ignoring the dedicated card.

Should be an option that lets it boot from PCIE before Onboard, and you can set onboard video adapter to disabled.

Try any other GPU, (maybe yours?) in the first PCIe slot. The fans could be spinning and the GPU still defective. You don't need any specific driver just to get to the desktop. In fact I would remove all AMD and/or NVidia drivers and just use the basic windows driver until you are stable on the desktop. You can do most non-gaming programs with the Windows driver. Then install the correct driver so you can play games.

The only thing close i can see in the bios is called "intergrated graphics configuration" and in it these are the options
Initiate graphic adapter
intergrated graphics share memory
dvmt memory
igd multi-monitor
