I am looking to get a second monitor in the near future and i have too many questions on what to do and i know this is the place to go if i want answers.

Here are my current specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus 76.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB
Case: Corsair 400R ATX Mid Tower
Power Supply: Corsair CX 500W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer

CURRENT monitor: http://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-IPS236V-PN-led-monitor

I will have to run both monitors off of my graphics card but the problem is that it has 1 x HDMI port and 1 x DisplayPort. I plan on hooking up my nice new monitor through the HDMI and then the second one to the display port.

Questions....

1) Will my 2nd screen, the one hooked up through the display port, be able to run at 1920x1080? (its a 1920x1080 res. screen)

2) What kind of performance drop am I going to have on my main display while I'm gaming?

3) Will i need to upgrade my power supply to run a second monitor?

4) What are some major differences and pros/cons of DisplayPorts vs HDMI (How well do you know your stuff? ;))

Solution
1) Yes.
2) No drop unless you are playing with multidisplay (nvidia surround or amd eyefinity). maybe warmer temps idle but it's fine.
3) No you will not. But you may want a PSU upgrade for future GPU upgrades for sure.
4) Both are fairly good, but HDMI is able to run different things through it, not just video. However, Displayport can carry audio signals as well. If you want to plug multiple monitors into one graphics card, Displayport is the way to go because on display port you can have higher frames per second (not just in games) at higher resolutions. On HDMI, that is not available.

this isn't really a multi-monitor setup. it's just 2 screens. any card made in the last 5 years can run 2 displays without batting an eye. so can your processor. you can run 2 from your onboard, plus 3-4 from your graphics card.

far too many people make this far too complicated and say you can't do what you CAN do. between your card and your CPU/mobo ports, you can connect whatever you'd like. use DVI on each, use HDMI on each, use VGA if you really want to. go into BIOS, set your onboard graphics as primary to enable the onboard stuff, and start playing around.
