I have a creative usb Sound blaster x-fi 5.1 surround pro which was working just fine in my window 7 64 bit OS. But recently, I uninstalled the launcher inadvertently and can't re-install it. I downloaded the launcher from creative support as I lost the original CD. But whenever I try to install the console, the setup program says there is no supported device. Can anyone help, please?

i would use personally use the on board audio device on the motherboard better quality and simpler any way to fix it would get the latest drivers from the manufacturers website for the best compatibility. Once you have done that boot into safe mode (mash F8 just before the windows loading animation) and then uninstalling the driver and programs that you need to install the device and then boot into windows normally and re-install the latest drivers which you downloaded earlier install them and should be good to go hopefully!

Go on the manufacturers website and get the latest driver for your product ( http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDo... ) click agree and should work after the driver is completely uninstalled or you might have a option to repair or re-install the driver

Hello,

I had the same issue; I'm surprised this problem still exists since the product and Win7 have been out for so long. The latest exe from Creative's site for the driver and software will not install because the setup exe can't detect the device for some reason.

The only way I could get it to work was by installing from the included CD that came in the box with the hardware, which worked right away without issue. The CD installation also includes Creative's AutoUpdate utility. If you choose to also install that, it will update driver/software to latest.

If you contact Creative, maybe they can send you a replacement cd?

My recommendation would be to keep the software like it is off the disk if it works fine but if you feel that updating it through the program seems like a good risk sure do it but also remember that the updated software will most likely have some minor bug fixes or some stupid other fixes or maybe a whole new piece of software who knows
