cant connect to Verizon WIFI from my Dell Laptop

I have an older Dell Vostro 1500 laptop. Im trying to connect to my Verizon Home Wifi. When I enter the PIN it says Pin entered is not valid. I know the pin is valid because I can connect with my IPAD and my husband can from his MAC. Help please :) suggestions??? Thanks

Does the Dell have the proper 802.11xxx protocol available? If the WiFi is broadcasting with 802.11ac, and the Dell only has 802.11n...it won't work.
Also, verify the particular encryption. WPA, WPA2, etc.
