Hi,

I am thinking about upgrading to an i5 4670 but realized my motherboard is a different socket.

Can anyone recommend a good motherboard <£100?

I am not really planning to overclock but I will be playing games on it and definitely need something stable (gigabyte preferred).

I also have a gigabyte superb 720w PSU (3~ years old)
I heard that I will need a haswell compatible one, can anyone tell me if this will work or not?

Thanks

or don't upgrade to haswell but to ivy bridge. you won't need a new psu, the mobo's are cheaper (not much) and it is just as viable. be sure to get a z series motherboard and a -k processor if you want the option to overclock

Hi,

I was dead set on getting the intel i5 4670 which I believe is Haswell.
Does this mean I will definitely need a new PSU then?

Why not stick with the ivy bridge and just get an i5 3550 ?, that way you wont need a motherboard upgrade. The haswells haven't really improved from the ivy bridge so you cant really call it an "upgrade"

What motherboard do you currently have ?, 1155 socket ?
