xeon support for gigabyte H61M-HD2

Hey guys

I own a gigabyte H61M-HD2 mobo,I need a CPU and I am on a budget of around 16000 INR (250$)
after research I found the Xeon 1230 v2 to be the best in the price range and now I am wondering if the mobo supports it or not.. The Xeon is a socket 1155 CPU.
I have read on websites that it is basically an i7 3700 without igpu

The chosen Xeon is not compatible with the v1 of the motherboard in question. See here:

But it supports the sandy bridge. There's no reason for it to not support v2

That may be true, but not all motherboards will support Xeon CPUs even if they physically fit into the motherboard socket. Good luck, if you try it.

Shall I go for the E3 1230 then.. It is listed in the supported cpus on the gigabyte website, its a generation old though but still its hyper threaded. I will be using it for video editing purposes

I sure like the one (E3-1230) I am using. Great performer. Excellent for when I do video work. Keep in mind that you will not be able to overclock the Xeon like you can an i5 or i7.

The E3-1230 would be an excellent choice.
