Hi, I recently built this rig and I would like to upgrade the GPU however I am unsure to which GPUs I can go for...

Specs are the following:

Intel i5 4430 3.0ghz
8g corsair low profile ram
1tb Caviar blue HDD
GTX 650
Coler master HAF 912 plus
500W power supply
Gigabyte z87 S1150 motherboard
windows 7 64bit

this was my first time building a PC and I know I made a mistake by choosing the GTX650....

would the 780 ti fit in my PC as I heard it is quite a big card, would 500w of PSU be ok and does my motherboard support it?

Adding to my previous post, I'd also like to put 32g corsair dominator platinum 2133mhz RAM, and will be upgrading my monitor to ( possibly) the new ROG monitor: http://rog.asus.com/296652014/news/rog-announces-the-pg... and would like to be able to max settings at those high resolutions....

Thank you!!!

Solution
The moderboard will support any modern video card .GTX 780 Ti needs one 6 pin and one 8 pin power connectors and good 600W psu . With 500W , GTX 760 is possible . But i think if the budget allow , get GTX 770 or GTX 780 .

I'm uncertain of what the actual size of the 780 Ti is, but for the most part, any card would likely fit into your system, granted there are a few GPUs that are a tad bit longer.

Without knowing the exact model of your PSU, I would highly advise to not get a new GPU yet. People have said that a Titan/780 can run on 500W, and is for the most part true as long as you have a good quality PSU. So I'd recommend getting a 600-650W PSU, and then upgrading your GPU.
