well yeah, my bios says that my cpu is running at 4.4ghz, but my system properties says otherwise lol.

I have no idea what is causing this.

cpu is amd fx 9370

gpu nvidia gtx 680

8gb ddr3 RAM

any ideas? .-.

Solution
It's Def. possible...problem is it's been a while since that chip was released...I'd imagine they would have released one by now...
Best thing to do is just Jerry clock it like you have been and look at new MoBo's.

Sounds like you need a real expert, sadly im not your guy. Maybe you could directly message one of the CPU experts on this website.

As stated above I would check the frequency of the CPU using CPU Z. Windows will only display the stock frequency of the CPU, many will notice this when they overclock their CPU and windows will still report it as running at stock frequency.

Also which motherboard are you using? Just wondering as this CPU has limited compatibility for motherboards. If CPU Z shows it only running at 3.8Ghz then try running something like Prime95 and watching the frequency. It may be that your CPU is being scaled back due to it not requiring that much Ghz at that moment in time.

well crisis averted. I went back into the bios set it to 3.8 ghz, saved it, then set it to 4.4ghz and now it is registering. BUT. it says at the bottom that i have "6 cores and 6 threads" on an 8 core cpu. wuuut is going on lol

That is very interesting, does the motherboard feature a BIOS update utility? I'm not familiar with Gigabytes software that is included with their motherboards. An update utility included with your mobo would be a good bet or by using the F13 BIOS until they officially release the F14b.

This motherboard will work with your CPU and is a quality motherboard if you are in the market for a new one.

I will check right now.

but check this out, when i get it to overclock take a look at the Easy Tune 6

strange.

So it appears that the CPU works when it is overclocked, however it keeps downclocking when i restart unless i enter the bios manually and then resave my cpu setting.

but the cpu is still WORKING. lol, like I notice increased performance in all my titles with this cpu installed and especially @ 4.5ghz

Yea, if your MoBo doesn't support your CPU then your going to have problems...
OCing it probably redefines variables that an 8350 may have while OCed and gives it the correct core clock.
Also have you checked your temps? Use HWmonitor or coretemp for this. Those 9350's need decent aftermarket cooling.
Also turn off power saving options in both BIOS and Windows.

yeah I have an h55 cooling system I'm good. The temps are really low, around 20c idle.

I'm going to restart now to finish the 14b bios installation. wish me luck
