Hi, I recently sold my xbox 360 to build a pc and sort of ran into a snag with my budget, i have basically nothing to pay for a graphics card, so im unsure wether this will be able to run dayz and what sort of framerate and if bf4 is even a possibilty on this.

Specs:
MOBO:asus m5a97 le r2.0
CPU: AMD FX-6300 (3.5ghz/4.1ghz @turbo)
PSU:500w
RAM: 4gb DDR3
Graphics card: unsure at the moment anything under £30 (just under $50) new or used is an option. can someone recommend one? (current choices are ATI Radeon Cedar HD 5450,ATI Radeon 3650, ATI Radeon HD 5770)

Solution

then i would go for an gtx 460 because its more powerfull then the hd 5770 and uses only about 30 watts more at max.

Both are pretty intensive games so personally i think you are just wasting money buying a £30 GPU. Your CPU is fine and you will probably want to get more RAM in the future but should be Ok for now. In my opinion you should just save up and get yourself a GPU for around £120 at least for games like that. Good luck

Im a bit worried about the psu now that you mentioned it, it's some generic psu that came with my case it says 500w (max load 484w) it just says atx-500 on the side. im guessing i should probably replace this before even attempting to boot?

Yes random psu's are useually terrible/extremly bad or just enough. Do you live in europe if so get an corsair b series because they are really cheap but only work in europe

Although yes it would be better to upgrade your PSU, a 500W psu will easily run your setup and a lower end GPU so i would recommend spending your money on the GPU.

don't do that because i have had a lot off random psu's (i get computers from the recycling center / repair computers) and they useually are 100 w less then they are listed or the worst example i ever had was an perfectly working computer with an 4 years ol 700 watt psu (it was a pentium d with an hd 3450 so not so powerfull) and it would shut off when the system was put under load evrything was fine inside the spu but it just was really weak.

I would be surprised if a PSU in a brand new case even if it was only working a 400W would not be able to run his system, but if you are sure about this then i would go with this advice.
