I have a 120GB Intel SSD. Lately, its been filling right up and I cannot find the reason why. I've run full scans with both my AV Avast, and Malwarebytes to see if its a virus. Both those programs removed a lot of Relevantknowledge files (They were all PUPs), but I can just go into windows explorer, spam F5 and just watch my free space going down, down, down.... Really don't know what to do now, and using WinDirStat has been inconclusive as it hasn't showed the disk being used since last night. So I don't know what keeps filling it up

Thanks for reading.

Edit: I just realised this may be in the wrong forum. If it is, I apologise.

It's likely a misbehaving program. Check out your temp folder and see if that is spawning 0 length files.

I had a problem like this a while back when I was working PC support, and it turned out to be Adobe Acrobat Reader spawning hundreds of 0 length files per second. I ended the task and deleted all the temp files and it's behavior returned to normal.

If you can't find the task causing it, try pulling the drive and hooking it to another system through a USB to SATA adapter and delete everything in your temp folder. It may return to normal.

According to tree size the temp folder (C:/Windows/Temp), that only makes up 1.3% of total files. 60% of the SSD is Program Files, 18% is Windows and 12% Users. I'm not really sure how to tell which one keeps adding files though. What I mean is , how can I tell which one is most recent? Most of the program files is taken up by Battlefield 3 and 4, so thats not suspicious. That hasn't been modified lately. It can't be that

I'm fairly certain it isn't, because origin isn't logged in and I'm not logged in on Battlelog either

I checked Origin Games, no change since 14/01, Origin itself was changed today, but its file size doesn't seem to be moving, so I don't think its anything with origin. All the windows updates folders in the temp file are empty as well. I should also mention this filling up is very erratic, it fills right up, then it goes down a little again, and then begins repeating this cycle again

Now I don't know whats going on. Last night after clearing the temp folder, I had 9.72GB of free space. I turn on my PC this morning, and I have lost a whopping 8GB, down to 1.72GB. What could possibly eat up so much space for seemingly nothing?

Only thing I can think of is that the computer is creating system restore points and erasing the old ones. Do you have just the one ssd? or do you have a hdd too? I don't know if you have windows but go into the system restore settings and turn it off if it's on or change destination folder to hdd (if you have one)
