Hello there, thank you for checking out my post.. I posted earlier about this but I thought I would start a new thread with some pictures and more in depth detail of my system. Basically I have searched High and low for this and have had no look, Hopefully this will put my mind at rest.

Basically I have a XFX ATI Radeon HD5770 (HDMI and Dual DVI-I only) and i am getting no signal on my screen.. My screen is VGA only but I have it currently plugged into DVI-I port on my 7600GT with the aid of a VGA- DVI-I adapter. Now With the radeon, I have plugged it in, re-seated it tried both PCI-E slots + both DVI-I ports.. got a 600W PSU by OCZ so i cant see that being the issue.. Still no signal and this is with the SAME VGA TO DVI-I adapter that works with my 7600GT >.<.. Now I just want to see if any of you guys, judging by the pictures I'm about to post here.. can perhaps tell me if i may have fried the bloody thing.. I never got any smoke or burning smells mind, PC sounds like it still boots.

<------ modular PSU and 8pin tp 6 + 2 PCI E3 cable.. Now I dont get the PCI-E3 on that cable .. Is that a potential PCI-E 2.0 frying pan?.

<------ There is the card.

For further information on my setup:

Mother board: ASRock AM3 M3A770DE/A/ASR Motherboard Socket S/L 5200MT/S

CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 550 3.1 GHz 7MB Cache Edition Dual Core Processor - Black

RAM: CORSAIR CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz PC3-12800 240pin DIMM Memory Module Kit
..

That's it folks.. Any help is much very appreciated, had one fella helping me with this other day which I am much grateful for it. I just though I would be a bit more in depth this time round :).

P.S I was also wondering if some how the Radeon is set to a default resolution that my monitor can not handle??..

If you can't see the BIOS logo, or can't see the early Windows logo, this can't be a resolution issue because the graphics driver gets loaded after that.

Just a question, are the fans spinning on the card when you turn on the PC?

But the best way to tell would be to put the card into another computer and test it. If it does the same thing you most probably got a defective card. You could bring the card to a friend's place if you don't have another PC laying around and try it in your friend's PC.

By the way, no need for it to fry with dramatic flames and smokes for a card to stop working. Electronics can be more subtle than that when they decide to go dead.

Hey there, thank you for replying. I can confirm that the Fan is spinning on the card. On screen there is just 'No signal'.. Do you know anything of that PCI-E3 cable at all, my friend?. I have no other system to test it on at the moment.. Ok I understand with regards to dying electronics... I hope this is not the case though.

Check for any smell of burning fumes when turned on.

Double check PSU is working with the paper clip test.

When dissembling your pc make sure you have shut everything down, wait about 10 secs and pull out power cord.
Check for irregular motherboard beeps (if any)

When re-seating the hd 5770 card, monitor still black screen and no bios? probably time to get a new card.

Hey there Lookerup, thanks for the reply. I get no beeps, no smell of burning .. I'll have to look up the paper clip test :/ .. Other than that I spent all day with it yesterday to no avail :(.
Still..No signal

Graphics cards can fail quietly from any number of reasons.
That sounds like your situation.

If it is still under warranty, RMA it.

If not, you have not lost all that much; it is not a strong gaming card by today's standards.

Buy yourself an upgrade. Perhaps a 7770.

OCZ don't have the best PSUs so it would also be worth trying with another power supply if you can borrow one from someone.

But don't worry about the cable, PCI-E cables coming from a PSU should all be standard and PCI-Express is backward compatible so I don't think this can be an issue.

It can be a failing card.

Your 7600GT is showing display and your hd 5770 shows nothing. If you can prove your psu passes the paper clip test than you most likely have to force upgrade your graphic card.

I haven't got the card working, however I have purchased a cheap Gforce GT630 2gb ddr3 card that is running GTA 4 smooth enough.. this will do for a while, massive improvement from my 7600 anyway xD.
