I'm really stuck with this one, the sli will cost more overall, when including new PSU, Motherboard and a new 660. But that's only if i get what i want for selling my GTX 660.

Solution
Single 280X. One card is better than two for many reasons. Some games just don't like CrossfireX/SLI, and you have to disable one of the cards to make a game run. Plus you can sometimes get frame pacing issues leading to stuttering and lag. Plus the 280X has 3GB of VRAM. More VRAM is always nice :) if you want an alternative, look at the GTX 770 4GB versions. Might be a bit more expensive but I have a Gigabyte version and it's flawless. But the 280X is definitely a good solution :)

2 x GTX 660 will produce faster frame rates than a single R9 280X, but sometimes a single card can produce smoother gaming if the game isn't well optimized for SLI. My 2 X GTX 660 have been nearly flawless that way, but I read where others have some issues occasionally. Of course, that may be due to other problems they don't know they have.

But, if your MB's 2nd PCIe X16 slot is only X4 bandwidth, don't bother with SLI.

Dual 660 will give you, in theory, double the performance, but there are issues with SLI. Not all games are optimised for it. In general, a single, more powerful card solution is better than an SLI rig. If you are upgrading a GPU, I would recommend a 290 or a 290x so you get more for your money.
