I have an HP h8-1534 Envy model and I am looking to replace the old Radeon HD 7570 card with a Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 overclock edition. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202025

However, I have read that HP locks their BIOS to prevent overclocking. If this is true will I be able to run a pre/factory overclocked graphics card with my computer.

Also is it possible turn off overclocking on pre-overclocked cards or are they stuck on that setting?

EDIT: I have already upgraded to a 750W PSU

the new is more than capable with a 54A but 38A is also enough assuming the old psu specs are true. as i said you can confirm the hp psu specs through this.http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/power-supply-oem-manufacturer,2913-3.html
The overclocking on the computer does not have anything to do with the video card overclock. You can run any speed video card in the system as long as it fits the case, can run on your power supply and can work with your PCIe slot version.

The 7870 may be a bit much for the stock HP power supply, is should be OK in theory on a 460 watt PSU that is in the system according to HP's site, but there is a chance you'll have issues.
