Hey all,

Before we get into things, this will be my 1st time building a PC as I've only done upgrades before. I'm a console gamer (XBOX 360) using an Elgato Game Capture HD and would like to start recording, editing, and rendering videos for YouTube as well as streaming to Twitch but I'm going to need the best CPU for the job and I need your help.

Any and all feedback is appreciated!

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Videos (Recording, Editing, Rendering, etc.), Streaming, Light Gaming (Minecraft, Garry's Mod, etc.), General Use, etc.

Additional Comments
PC not necessarily used for gaming, mainly to create content and for general use.

  • ■ AMD FX-8320
    ■ Intel Core i7-4770/4770K
    ■ Intel Xeon E3-1230/1240 V3

Thanks,
Marv

The single thread/core performance on the Intel is significantly faster than the AMD.

The performance of all 8 cores of the AMD running together will give slightly better or similar performance as the high end i5 or i7, depending on how well the program uses hyperthreading.

If you plan on using applications that take advantage of all the cores, the AMD is cheaper and gives good performance. Overall, the i7 is the faster cheap is most applications.
The FX chip with 32 GB of good quality RAM in my recommendation. It does out perform the Intel's for live streaming.

The Xeons are powerful, but they are not really for gaming. You may not get the desired results, components will be very expensive too.

I agree with both Alec and u_gonna... ;-)

There is another option I'd like to suggest you. AMD has just released a new APU, the A10-7850K. It's features 12 cores (4 CPU and 8 GPU) and capable of running all the applications and games you've mentioned above. Here is the link to the official site: http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/processors/a-series/Pages/nextgenapu.aspx (Check out its features)

Personally I think it can be a good solution for you. If not, going the route Alec and U_gonna_squeal...is the way to go.

The A10-7850K is not even in the same category, it's an entry level processor.

You're right Alec, I just wanted to provide the OP an option.
