Hi all. As stated above, the external hard drive is not showing up. I can't find it on the device manager either. There is no safely remove option so I'm a bit hesitant to just remove it from the back on the hard drive! The external is still making a noise and the blue light is on! I have no idea what do as I'm no whiz on a computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. My system is windows vista if that helps..?

Try unplugging it and plugging it back in. It won't do any harm to it at all if Windows currently does not know it's there.
