I got this as a gift and have yet to open it in fear it will not satisfy my gaming needs. I've been told all I would need to do is upgrade the GPU and power supply. Is this computer able to be upgraded I don't know if the motherboard can take a new graphics card. (Link to Computer)

Other wise I was originally going to build this (Link) with a better graphics card would it be comparable to my build both would end up around $900.

Solution
the CPU in the Dell is quite potent, any 2/3/4th gen i5 is good for gaming.

Both set ups would be good, but the Dell will probably cost more in the end after putting in a GPU and upgrading the power supply.

Hi,

If you want the PC for Gaming needs I don't think this PC will be suitable.

Specs:
Graphics: Intel® HD Integrated Graphics

Very poor graphics, you will need to put a Nvidia Geforce xxx card in for better performance / AMD if you like.

However the thing with ALL Dell machines are they only every put in what they need and never leave any headway. You would need to pop the case OFF, and check the Power Supply Output then choose a video card that comes in the range.

The two CPU's are almost the same in benchmarks but the intel integrated graphics is much worse than the gtx 760. If you are comparing both Computers then the one that you were going to build would be much better. And yes it is upgradablefor both systems

The Dell spec area lists a PCI-e x16 expansion port, so it will accept a discrete GPU, but as mentioned, a PSU upgrade would likely be required. Another factor would be to measure and make sure there is enough room for it (length) in the case.

The computer you specced out would be more powerful overall though. I would recommend changing the 500w PSU to a 600w though or at lease a 550w.
