Hi one and all! I'm having some troubles upgrading an old pc that I commandeered. It's an old HP Pavilion a6612uk. I bought some new parts to try and give it a new lease of life, including an AMD phenom ii x4 960t black edition, an asus m5a78l-mlx3 mobo, 8 gb ?Crucial ddr3 pc3 8500 ram (single stick) and a new windows 7 OS with the intention of running a clean re-install once up and running. However I have not yet got that far. I've installed all the new hardware, the system seems to turn on. Fans start, lights coming on, making all round positive sounds yet the screen remains black and lifeless. I think it may have something to do with the ram perhaps being incompatible but am not sure as I am no expert. Please help if you can. Would be most grateful. Thanks, Nathan

Thanks for getting back so quickly. yeah all done correctly on that list except one crucial thing and that's the signal speaker. my mobo doesn't have one intregated so I'll have to pick one up this morning and then I'll let you know as like it says I'm blind without one :)

Still not having any joy am afraid. The mobo doesn't beep at all with the speaker installed. Only thing is If I take the RAM out, it does beep then (one long followed by two short, then repeats)
