1080p vs 1440p

I've only gamed on a 40in tv on 1080p. I've never seen 1440p so I'd like to know is the smaller screen at higher resolution worth it? I want to upgrade to a 55in but became curious about1440p.

What do you guys think? Should I buy a monitor instead?

Think about it, smaller area with more pixels. That equals an extremely sharp image. When people go from gaming on a 1080p monitor then go to a 1080p tv, they are always amazed how blurry it looks on the tv even though the resolution is the same. If it is worth it all depends on you but it will make a huge difference. I'm sure a local electronics store would have something on display for you to see for yourself.
