Dell Dimension 2400 BSOD during windows install

Title pretty much describes it all. My grandmothers computer recently gave us the error "NTLDR Is missing".. So I've heard I can simply make a Windows disc, and repair it using the windows console by pushing a new NTLDR. But when I go to install Windows, It finishes loading the first part, then when it says "windows is restarting" it restarts and i get the BSOD saying " STOP 0X0000007B"

After researching it says to set ahci mode to ide/auto or something but I can't seem to figure out how to do this in the bios?

There is no AHCI option for such an old motherboard/PC. I suggest making a backup of your grandma's personal files and then reinstall windows, it isn't really hard.
If i recall for dell pcs of that age, just enable "install os " on the bios and the boot from the cd/dvd.

Oh and i see the date is 2008, i would fix the date too on that bios just to be sure.

Some quick debugging before formatting and reinstalling windows
1) remove any usb devices, just let the keyboard and mouse for now
2) unplug dvds cds disk drives from inside the box, the data cables preferrably
3) remove 1 of the 2 memories and do all combinations to see if the blue screen persists (1 memory on first bank, next try on other bank, then the other memory)
4) observe if...

4) observe if cpu fan or power supply fun are working when you turn on the pc

then the next thing is format.

if u install windows 7 in ide hdd this error also come. i am install 7 sp-1 in p4 1.8ghz single core processor , 1gb ram , 80 gb sata hdd , its working good.

I've tried these steps.. Still getting this error. I've tried all different types of windows discs.. via usb and nothing seems to work. Shes currently on a windows xp home edition but dear god is it slow.
