Crossfire HD 7970

Is it at all possible to run two AMD HD 7970s in crossfire that are from different companies. The first is a Gigabyte HD 7970 and the second is an ASUS Matrix HD7970, is this possible or not?

I am 99.99 percent sure you can do that as the cards are the same series (7970's) so it does not matter what manufactures they are from. I say 99.99 percent because i have no real world exp with crossfire i just got my info from what i have read many times.
