Ok so everythings plugged in. Cpu fan spins, graphics card fan spins everything appears to be working.

However when I plug in a video cable to a monitor I get "No Signal".

Can any one advise me as to the best prosedure.. I was thinking of removing the graphics card to see if its a problem with that.

Is it possible my CPU is broken and how can I check?

Is it possible hard drive is broken so it cant boot..

First time builder but I'm fairly sure everything is compatible because I did some pretty extensive research..

Thanks in advance to any one who helps me out!

I was suprised to find that my graphics card has no power cable slots so no I haven't plugged anything into them.

Fan is spinning though so I'm asssuming it has power.

Yes the Graphis cable is plugged into the graphics card but I have tried both (motherboard also has video output)

The zotacs that ive found dont seem to need an external power source, and get all of their power from the pic slot. Colvin, try unpluggin, and replugging everything, just to make sure there isnt some sort of loose connection somewhere. if that doesnt solve anything, try removing one stick of ram at a time to see if that changes anything. Then try installing your video card into another slot on your board. If that doesnt change anything, try putting your video card into a system that you know works, that has enough power to push it. IF it doesnt work in another system, then you have a bad video card, RMA, and youll be good to go. If it does work in another system, then the only parts you dont know work are the cpu/motherboard.You can remove the cpu from the motherboard and inspect the pins to see if anything is bent, that happens quite often while assembling. If there are no bent pins, I would recommend RMA'ing both the motherboard and cpu, just to eliminate all areas that a problem can be in.

Ok so I didnt do all you said Jeremyp. I found out that it was making 2 beeps at the start so it was booting. This allowed me to rule out error with the CPU.

Ok so bassically I now have a "pairity Error" between my M5A78L-M Asus motherboard and my Kingston HyperX Genesis Ram.

I've taken it all out and put each individual ram into each slot and I still get the two beeps.

I guess I can try the 6 different combinations of my 2 rams in the 4 slots but I doubt it will make much difference

If you have another board you can put the ram in, see if it works. Parity circuit failure can be ram or motherboard, trying ram in another system can rule out the ram. If it works in another system, then the motherboard is your problem.
