Be gentle with me. If I knew how to do anything on a computer other than shop, I wouldnt be in this mess. Please bear in mind I have never copied or backed up any information myself before so I dont really know how to use a flash drive.
I want to use Recuva portable to try and get some photos off a sick machine.
I envisage this is how I go about it. I switch on the offending computer and let it boot. When it has settled I plug in the pen drive with recuva into a USB. I then look for it and it will be labelled E.Next I plug in the back up storage USB and look for that and it should be labelled F. I then click on the .exe file in Recuva and hopefully tick some lost files now displayed and send them to the F drive.
Assuming I am correct so far but still missing files, I would then do the deep scan. If by mistake I request files I restored earlier to the back-up usb, will it just overwrite them or will I be left with 2 copies to sort out?
Finally, can this program recover gedcom files?
Thank you
