HI , I changed the date and time and the name on a computer that hadn't been updated it appears since 2004. I also checked the int battery but it was good.
I saw a pst that indicated I may to flash the bios and for the life of me I'm not remembering for sure how. isn't it just a jumper that merely needs to be discon and recontd ?
Any help you can give. I've read the blogs and gone in all the circles I can find to answer this ..... to no avail.
help please. My sister needs this computer and I need to give it in good working condition as she's just learning.
thank you
ma

What make/model is the PC (if something like a Dell or HP) or the motherboard (if custom built)? Some older systems required a jumper to be changed in order to update the BIOS, but not all have this requirement. Most, in fact, do not and the jumper you are referring to is used to reset the BIOS to its default state.

You typically don't have to flash the BIOS to correct the time. If you replaced the motherboard battery properly and it is good, then the system should keep time properly once set. In Windows, you can also (via the date/time settings) have the system configured to automatically update the time via the network.
