How to reduce minecraft lag?

Can you give us your full pc specs?
The more info the better.
If you can run sr 4 maxed i know you have a good pc, but there may be some things that are either inompatible, or a general video setting problem in minecraft itself.

Minecraft is alot more ram heavy than other games, as while other games are 3D, behind that is emptiness. In minecraft just because you're looking at the ground doesn't mean there is nothing beneath it, in reality, that's where EVERYTHING is.
You probably need more ram.

Windows 7 x64 is my OS, forgot to include that. I was using fast video settings, vsync off, and normal render distance. It's fine on a superflat world but any other world it freezes up every second or to.
