Windows Vista eMachines desktop not booting from disc...

I found a dusty old desktop from 2006 in my basement and hooked it up. Trying to install Windows 8 on it... but the problem is it won't boot from disc. The option shows up but it doesn't tell me what key to press... i might sound really dumb saying that.

  1. Hello... you need DVD player for Win 7&8... is that the problem? go into the BIO's and make sure the DVD player is on top of the BOOT order list, save and exit.

Enter the BIOS at boot (likely by pressing the 'Delete' button) and navigate to the *Boot Sequence*

Set your optical drive at the top of the list ...
  3. Fixed it. I had to mash one of the keys
