I'm contemplating a GTX 760 or 770 to upgrade my rig, but I'm not sure if a 770 would be a better choice considering its going to be paired with my older i7 920 CPU. I'm a bit worried if its going to bottleneck.

current rig:

PSU: CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-1000HX 1000W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V 2.91
Mobo: EVGA 141-BL-E757-TR LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX X58 SLI LE Intel Motherboard
CPU: Intel Core i7 920 Processor 3.81GHz LGA 1366 Bloomfield
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 5870 1 GB DDR5
SSD: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5” 2 x 256GB SATA III MLC
Case: Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced - High Air Flow Full Tower Computer Case
Monitor: Dell SP2309W 23-Inch LCD Widescreen Monitor 2048 x 1152

If youre using a moniter with that high of resolution you should definatly get the 770 i would consdier a 780 if you can becuase that resoloution is demanding. In some games and new games especially you will get bottlenecked but with the majority of games you wont.

No, you may get higher fps per games that request more cpu but overall no. I have a rig with a Core2Quad Q9500 @ 3.73 paired with a ATI 7870 and have plenty of games that run the gpu at 100% with all four cores stay down around 45%.

Not sure if the "yeah of course" was towards me but Crysis 3 plays with zero issues on High @ 1080 on my other rig. The q9500 and the 7870 run it very well. His i7 920 @ 3.8 is a much better cpu too.

LOL wow i have never heard a bigger lie in my life have you ever looked at crysis 3 benchmarks way better graphics cards have a hard time playing that game in 1080p then the 7870. While the 7870 is a good low budget card for 1080p but its not crysis 3 good nore is an old cpu with an ipc 80% less then current generation intel cpu's which also have a bit of a hard time with crysis 3. stop trolling

Why do you think I am trolling - I have nothing to prove. I think its funny when someone starts a sentence with 3 capital letters to then proceed with some finger pointing! Point at yourself, this isn't a txt message. Either way, I will be creating a YouTube video just for you tonight showing you why I responded the way I did. You can then pick apart the video and say its all lies too all while I play Crysis3 with that rig with zero issues.

Sure just make sure the frame rate is shown and the system specs before the game is started. Some people think 20 fps is zero issues. Its funny the system specs you have listed would crush cyrsis 3 at 1080p, so proof of the system specs would definatly be required as the system specs you list using are heavily under powered for a game like that with those settings at the resolution.

I have no problem proving this correctly - I surely don't care to waste my time. I will even show what exact settings the game is ran at. And.... if I was to run it with my sig rig, it would be a tad obvious fps would be just a smudge too high :)  Either way, I look forward to this.

Aww no fake video? I was hoping you'd boast about impossible performance some more :(

I can't do it the way I wanted too. I will need to record it via camcorder. I drop to low 20's when recording the game via the computer. I will get it up - relax. Anyways, I verified again last night and was between 29/53 fps. Average was about 37ish. Normally 33/44 so it seemed. Either way, I will get the video up for you.

You have the same exact 2nd build so I would assume that is why you know for sure this is some huge crazy fake idea?

Ive dealt with 1000's of graphics configurations, that is why I know this is fake.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/crysis-3-performanc... I guess youre saying this benchmark from toms is fake? I know youre CPU isn't listed but its older than everyone listed that should say it all.
