Problem is with the drive capacity shown by MAC OS 10.5.8 Leopard which is the most recent OS my dual 2 GHz Mac G5 Tower can run with its IBM made PowerPC 970 CPU, the last PowerMac, which was the first 64 bit Mac. It's become a bit of a relic, however, it still has a very fast processor and aside from this puzzling HD problem, and a dwindling supply of readily available SW, works fine as a secondary computer. I have set jumpers 5 & 6 to allow a large size HD. Fortunately the computer DOES recognize the drive and INFO: shows the problem: THE DRIVE has zero CAPACITY, thus it cannot be re-formatted. THE HD is read simply as MEDIA.
This is copy of the Information Disk Utility shows on the WD 500 Gb secondary drive, I hope this helps. Thanks kindly.
