I have recently began rescuing LCD, plasma, etc. televisions from our public landfill. Many of these only need minor replacement of capacitors on the main power board to return them to fully functional units. My question is would there be any benefit to replacing the bad caps with solid state caps if they are compatible or should I just continue using low ESR Rubycon, Nichicon caps? I look forward to your advice and replies. Thank you in advance.

I think you are fine using the caps that you have been so long as they are 105 degree instead of 85. The higher temp rating makes them last longer. Most flat screen makers won't spend the extra.
