Windows 8.1 install with Windows 8 disk

Hi All,
So I've decided it's time to do a format and re-install to clean things up.
I am running windows 8 with media player and have the Windows 8 disk.
Can I go straight to installing Windows 8.1 some how or do I have to install 8 first then update?
Does it matter?

You have to install 8 first. Then go to the Store, and from there, upgrade to 8.1.

I upgraded to 8.1 the other day. Be prepared...it is a large d/l. About 3.2GB, I think

Ya I have 8.1 on right now. I was hoping to speed up the process a bit by going straight to 8.1 instead of doing 8 then the 8.1 upgrade.
I did find this which may speed it up a bit in the future.
