I am going to be building a new gaming system and would love to know which is better over all, 1 EVGA GTX 760 4 GB GPU or 2 EVGA GTX 760 2 GB GPUs.

The rest of the computer in case the specs are needed are.

CASE: Corsair 500 R
CPU: Intel I7 4770K
MB: Asus z87-Plus
RAM: 16 GB Corsair Vengence DDR3-1600 Mhz
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250 GB
HD: WD Green 3TB
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro

Thanks in advance for any help and opinions you may have.

Hi - please be aware that two 760 2g will not give you 4g, it will still be 2g of vram. You did not state what resolution you will be gaming at, but if it's 1080p or less, then 2g of vram is fine. If you will be gaming at 1440p, 1600p, or multi monitors, then the extra vram may be important...

actually no, the memory of the cards isn't added in sli it's like double the computing power but the info in the memory is written on both of them, so they would work like twice nr of cores with 2gb memory.

Personally, I suggest you get the strongest single GPU you can afford, ie go for a gtx780 vs 2 gtx 760's.
Then, if it's not enough, the SLI option is still open to you.

Also, insure you have enough PSU power to go either route.

as above, you will not get 4GB with 2x2GB SLI. GTX760 is not powerful enough to run any games at settings which would require over 2GB Vram, so 760 4GB by itself is pointless. 2x760 4GB might be worth while if you are using 3 monitors or much more than 1080. 2x760 2GB would be nearly twice as fast as one, but you may need a bit more than 2GB for >>1080.

I'm running a pair of 2GB cards in SLi @1080 and they have yet to run out of RAM whilst gaming.
