How do I know if my CPU works?

So I built a computer for the first time. However, it didn't worked and from my research, I think its the mobo. However, I don't know if it might be the CPU as well. What are some symptoms? When I was breadboarding, it worked the first time and after that, didn't work any more.

Some motherboards have a CPU indicator (a light or a code) that indicates a fault in the CPU.
If you have a buddy running the same socket, you could try testing it in his system.
Otherwise the only way to know for sure is to take it to a shop that has the necessary equipment to diagnose the problem.
