Hello Tom's;

I recently bought myself a new seagate 1TB Barracuda switching out my old and dying 160GB WD hard drive, the problem that i have noticed for a few days is that after i boot into windows... few minutes into it the HDD access light just turns on solid and doesnt blink until after a reboot.

I dont have any symptoms of a bad HDD everything runs fine even after the HDD light comes but since im not an expert, i thought why not ask the authority on tech about it.

is the hard disk bad ? spyware ? it cant be bad led 'cause it does blink after a reboot.
or should i even care about it

Your help would be appreciated
THANK YOU

P.S: I dont know if it is relevant but firefox freezes everytime i run it, just thought id mention it
Also that my DVD-ROM sometimes flashes its light like im trying to eject it when im not, so...

MY PC:
HP dc7800 mini-tower
Core 2 Duo E8400
2x2GB DDR2 RAM
Aus 7750 128-bit 1GB DDR5
Seagate Baracuda 1TB HDD
Windows 7 64-bit

Sorry for my bad english, Thank you for your patience

If fire fox is crashing then I would check the add-ons of your Firefox. Also when this light comes on look for processes that are using a lot of system resources. I've had a more extreme problem like this but it would cause my whole pc to crash. instead of Firefox crashing mien was internet explore. If you still cant find the problem look for files you don't remember downloading.

Check the resource manager (not task manager) on the "disk" tab. It should show what's accessing the drive.

What I meant was looking at program files and seeing if there are any programs that don't look familiar

Hawkeye22 i checked the resource manager and under the disk tab it showed that my drive's Highest active time was at a solid 100%.
im a little scared now why is it like that ?

UPDATE: the highest active time has started to fluctuate from anywhere between 5% to 90%
but the light till stays solid no matter how low that number goes

Is that drive or any folders on that drive set to be indexed? The index service might be hitting it. Also, it might be possible that the LED is faulty. If this drive is a secondary drive (not the OS drive), you may want to temporarily disconnect it and see if the problem persists. Other than that I'm not sure what it could be. I would think that even a virus should show up under the resource manager.
