New headset problems

I recently purchased a corsair vengeance 1500v2 usb mic. I plugged it in and even installed firmware from the site, it does not work though. The mic doesn't seem to pick up sound. I can hear windows sounds fine, but cannot hear game audio. I can hear myself in the mic, but skype cannot pick up the audio. I have tried all my usb ports, and whenever I plug it in it tries to install driver software like it's new or something. Is this normal?

You have to change settings, possibly every time you switch from your speakers to your head set. With your head set plugged in:
Go to Control Panel>Sound.
Under "Playback" tab, enable the USB headset and disable your speakers.
Under the "Recording" tab, enable and test your USB microphone on your headset.
Let us know if this solves the problem.

Only problem is the mic doesn't work with skype? I know the mic works and I have it selected for skype use, however it doesn't work. I can hear everything fine though, great headset.

Shoob0x, I have never used Skype, so I can't even begin to help with this problem.
ANYone else out there lend a hand ? !
