I have all my parts in the case except the CPU which i dont own yet. last night i plugged everything in properly and pressed my power button to test it all, and it didnt even turn on, the PSU is brand new, so its not that. Im worried my Motherboard is dead, should i be worried?

if thats the case, i feel a lot better, but since this is my first build, im going to continue to worry about it some until i know if its that for sure.
my friend said theres a term for my worrying, but i dont remember what it is.

It depends on the board. Some boards will power up and the fans will spin and you will get no video no nothing other than a loud continuous beep. Some boards will do nothing at all. You will push the button and get nothing.

Might be just paranoid ;P might be :)

No psychoanalysis needed here. Try to start a car without an engine. Not good is it? Finish your build.
