I currently have the processor above with a 7870. I know i should have gotten a better cpu but at the time I had no idea what I was actually picking out. My cpu is overclocked at 4.6ghz and I am currently (according to MSI afterburner) am getting 100% utilization of my gpu, and I am steady at 100% usage with no fluctuations. So... right now I have no bottleneck. What I want to find out is how bad of a bottleneck I would have if I was to upgrade to a 770 or 7970. I could further overclock to 4.8ghz if necessary to reduce bottleneck.

spend the money you're going to spend on a better gpu and get an i5 3570k/haswell.

my bro plays everything on ultra 1080p with his a10 5800k and 660ti. The Athlon 750k everybody pretty much recommends for 1080p gaming cpu on a budget is the a10 5800k just without the built in graphics. No it probably isn't 60fps but my bro isn't nit picky like that. If you want better performance, it seems like the choice is easily get a better cpu. Hell you could even cheap out and get the $110 fx6300 and a 970mobo or the 8 core 8320
