I am moving my gaming PC to my room in about a week because there's no room in the living room, so I won't be able to use LAN with the Ethernet cable anymore connecting to my router. I was wondering what is the best PCI Wireless adapter or USB wireless adapter for WIFI for my gaming computer. I would like for my Gaming PC to still have the best possible wifi connection comparable to LAN.

My modem is a Motorola NVG510, I have U-Verse with only I think 6 Mbps.

Its all going to come down how much of the signal is absorbed by the walls in your house and how many of your neighbors are also using wireless. There is little you can do about this and it is actually more important than any difference between brands of cards.

The card recommended by the previous poster is a very nice card and I have a couple of them....but that was years ago. It was one of the best cards on the market to use for wireless sniffing. That technology is completely outdated it is old 802.11g equipment. When you go to the alfa site and they have "Hot News" with dates from 2011 tends to be very telling.

Which card you get is a tough call. You will see huge variations in comments in all cards. This is because what...

Which card you get is a tough call. You will see huge variations in comments in all cards. This is because what you are seeing is how well certain cards work in certain people houses not so much the difference in the cards themselves. When they are tested in lab conditions there are only tiny variations in the cards. Almost all use chips from the same 2 manufactures.

I tend to like USB based devices only because you can put them on a long cable and move them away from the computer case. The internal PCI cards are easier to replace the antenna with larger ones...but that doesn't work as well as it used to because of the dependency between multiple antenna.

The larger brands like Asus and tp-link sell many options and I suspect ones with similar features will be about the same.

I would still go with a dual band adapter even if your router does support it. This will give you the option if the 2.4g has too much competition from neighbors you could then replace the router and try 5g.

Still gaming on wireless..especially with shooter type games.. is going to be very random. It generally works ok most the time but you will get random lag spikes in the game. There really is not solution to this other than not to use wireless.
