Essentially this is my new computer quite literally picked it up today, best i can do is http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/2GygA. Only things i havent added are Asus D2X soundcard and a tplink wifi adapter.

My question is my computer is freezing extremely infrequently cant seem to find a pattern to it. It locks for maybe 30 secs give or take then resumes as if nothing happened. Any way i can find out what is actually causing it or am i just best to take it back in shop and see whats gone on. Oh and just remembered i had a O/C job done to it to take it to 4.2 ghz.

Thanks in advance Jon.

Id much rather not have to take it in the shop you see probably a 2 week ish turnaround currently due to floods in uk not that long ago :p So obviously if i can actually sort this myself rather than doing it the other way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

try running hdtune see if the hard drive is stalling. run cpu-z see what the ram speed is set at. with intel mb like you have you need to have matched dimms not three. the x58 was the last chipset that had tripple memory channels. the newer mb have two dimms per ram channel. with overclock cpu on a h87 is not the same on a z87 chipset. you may want to go back into the bios and put your mb back to stock speeds.

i wouldnt have the faintest clue how to actually bang it back to stock if im being honest. Bit perplexed currently maybe someone could offer there input essentially it says on cpu-z that my clocks are 3.4 ghz but when i start a game and things it says im at 4.2 ghz for like a moment then goes back down again. So its like it goes to oc speeds when under load. Does that sound right ? Iv only ever had a *always overclocked* cpu so i was surprised to see its set at 3.4 unless im doing somthing taxing as it were.
