Hello everyone

First, please excuse my ignorance, Im just getting into the pc building world

Last week, my buddy helped my build my first desktop. After playing a few games on it, I decided to crossfire another sapphire 270x toxic. I am not seeing any improvement at all with the extra card installed. I have done a couple benchmark tests and the system is using both cards, just not seeing an improvement in the fps. I've messed around with v-sync and some other settings to no avail. Have tried fallout 3, and ac4 mostly trying to compare before and after. Only getting around 30 or 40 fps in ac4 with all settings maxed with v-sync off. Desktop currently has FX8320 cpu, 8gb g. skill ripjaws 1866, 2x sapphire toxic 270x in crossfire, Asus M5A99X mobo, 700 watt psu, games running off samsung evo ssd. Anyone have any suggestions to why my fps is so low?

What 700 watt PSU manufacturer. Please try other games such as BF4 or Crysis. Fallout does not really see a boost with crossfire and ACIV does not support multi-GPU's. I'm surprised you're getting the frames you're getting in ACIV, considering it does appallingly on AMD CPU's. Fallout performance does seem a little low, so try one GPU and benchmark, ACIV, don't expect it to get any higher unless you get a better CPU.

Crysis 2 worked much better, around 50 fps with v-sync on, 90-100 with v-sync off. Is that about expected?
