760w or 860w PSU?

If you are only planning on a single R9 280X ( or 290 or 290X ) then the 660w model is plenty.

If you plan on 2 cards at some point get the 860w model. The Platinum series are among the best on the market so great choice. I plan on upgrading my almost 7 year old Corsair 750TX with a 760w Platinum for my GTX 780 / GTX 460 1GB PhysX setup soon.

I'm only using a single graphics card. Do you think that Corsair's AX760i is better than Seasonic's P760? AX760i(US$ 200) is US$ 32 more expensive than the P760 which only costs for US$ 168

of course with this PSU you can control your power supply digitally and monitor your system with corsair link v2.0

The Corsair AXi 760 made by Flextronics is a very good unit and in the same league as the Seasonic. It is not, however a better unit. In the same category yes, better no. They are both tier 1 power supplies. Voltage regulation, ripple and noise are very similar.

The Seasonic Platinums are just slightly reworked X series units.

The AXI series Corsair link software is often problematic. This does not affect the quality of the units but it does make you wonder why people pay extra for something that does not work.

Thanks for that. I can see from their site that it's something like "XP2". So the only remarkable difference of Corsair's AX from Seasonic's P760 is the Corsair Link.

I'll just save that US$ 32 and settle with Seasonic P760 :D

There are XP and XP2 Platinum series units. You want XP2. They were updated because the original units had coil whine problems. You don't want to listen to that!

Glad to help :)

Oh and you are really fine with the 660w as I said above. There is no gain going with the 760w as it's not sufficient to add a second card. So unless the price is better or within $5 or so of the 660w model there is no need to go with the 760.
