Hello,

I am about to buy a system usually a less expensive used one. Like an old HP

Core 2 duo 2.6 8MB-12MB Cache
4-8Gb DDR3 Ram
80GB SATA Harddisk
that's it.

I am already running 1x270x and 1xr9 290 on my core i5 2500k system with 8Gb ram and 3 fans+ Combo Drive with Corsair TX850.

I wanted to ask if i buy the above mentioned system will the corsair TX850 run both r9 290x ??

Reason : Only mining purpose .i.e the system will be running 24/7 on full load like my current core i5 system is running without any issues. ( Both cards will run seperately not crossfired). As i am short on budget the 1000watt psu is $50 extra in my town therefore the cheapest and best option for me is the TX850 Corsair)

Solution
The load you will be putting on the psu will decrease the lifespan. While it may run remember you do lose efficiency as you demand higher power from your psu. Maybe if you had a 850w gold or platinum but if it were me personally I wouldn't spend my money buying an 850 watt psu. Either stick with what you are using currently until you can afford bigger psu or take your chances with smaller one(hopefully it works).

R9 290X can give peak consumption up to 295W (gaming gives 220 max or something, don't know about mining) so it is 600 + ~80 for CPU (or even less if it is not loaded when mining), T850 has 70A on 12V = 840W so it seems could run... but of course You are reaching the thin red line, PSU won't last long 24x7, though it seems to load PSU only to 80%, so maybe even not a problem.

If it is possible check peak consumption of one 290X when mining, and then use this for math. Anyway it should definitely run, but who knows how long and how stable. If no other way You could cut 290X performance a bit to save power

Edited few times :)

http://www.corsair.com/en/media/cms/manual/TX_English.pdf PSU info, single rail but seem to have enough power on 12V

UPD: forgot some W for mobo, count it also, + it seems possible to push R9 290X to 330W, so it can be problem. Try to get info on how it performs when mining.

Thank you for your replies :) but still its not clear. It's like 50 50. I checked evga and other overclocking apps but r9 290 does not seem to tell me how much voltage does it consume. As far as searching google i found out different replies, some said it will work good some said it wont. I have also asked official sapphire support waiting for their reply, will update this thread soon so anyone else with the same issue would find it helpful :) .. i also checked thermaltake voltage calculator and found out 814w max(included 3 fans+leds+Combo drive+7200rpm hdd+core i7 4770) will update the thread with more details
