You had 1200$ usd and didn't have a computer or a laptop but you needed one for school with it including Microsoft Word or something like it.

You also would like you run an audio production software and play some MMO'S with NO lag! (For once)

That's about it, maybe a blue ray player....

I don't know everything about what's current in the technological sense. I just want something that runs like my friends "beast" that he built on newegg. I don't have him around to help me out.

I would consider it a great favor if someone could spend my money (hypothetically)
Down to the mouse, keyboard, etc...

It's a good chunk of money just want it to go far...you know?

Intel i7 core, want it to run cool, looks don't matter much but would be a plus, big screen ( I'm a big guy), big keys, lots of ram, lots of audio and video capabilities...oh and ms word.

Please help me out? :D

I'm also in ny.

Right I get that all of this might not be possible it's just ideally I wanted them. I just need a comp. One that I can run audio producing software on, play games without staggering lag, and has ms office so I can do papers. Considering I have to get a monitor, keyboard, and mouse...probably a desk too:) the money might not go far. Just thought with all of the technical prowess, someone might be able to hook me up with a gameplan.

Otherwise I'll end up at best buy buying a laptop that's "pretty good"

Either way this has been an informative time here...I'm learning hahah

$1258 after $10 in rebates, take out the sound card and your in budget. Lower the GPU to gtx 760 for -$60.
1080p monitor so your not stressing your GPU in some games.
radeon 7350 with 3gb VRAM for some editing of music and decent gameplay
Cheap large keyboard, Cheap mouse
Dedicated Soundcard
24" monitor
8gb RAM
2TB Harddrive for heaps of music/games
Blueray read/write.
Fill out ---this---.
$1258 however you could easily drop it to $1100 and buy better keyboard/mouse/sound card. No OS.

Approximate Purchase Date: this week

Budget Range: 1200 max with a little room for shipping

System Usage from Most to Least Important: producing, school, gaming, main comp

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Parts to Upgrade: want current technology

Do you need to buy OS: Yes
Please note that if you're using an OEM license of Windows, you will need a new one when buying a new motherboard.

...not sure what thas means!

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com, amazon. Open

Location: Rochester ny

Parts Preferences: i hear Intel is best and amd close behind when it comes to pricing. I'd want parts that are good irregardless of brand.

Overclocking: Yes...i hear this is all the new rage, not fully comprehended it yet

SLI or Crossfire: yes I hear crossfire is good for audio working with lots of files

Monitor: hmmm. Need a crisp resolution. Not looking for hyper-real skyrim stuff just good.

Additional Comments: i think a cooler pc has longer longevity so that, fast cpu, RAM, idk. Sound/video card! Maybe ports for specific audio jacks.
I heard SSD is the thing to get, also Microsoft office. Haha

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: I don't have a pc! Haven't for like a year. Want it to materialize already! And I don't want a laptop from best buy...really this stuff isn't easy but I'm willing to explore options.

I have a logi tech wireless mouse and some very novice knowledge on computers and their assembly. My friends know more.

Thanks for comments already.

OEM means that you can only use that Windows key on one motherboard. Once you use it on this board, its tied to it forever and cant be used on another system.

Mouse/Keyboard, get whatever cheap bundle you can find at your local office supply store. For decent peripherals your looking at $50 each, so not going to fit on this budget.
Reason for AMD over Intel, I figured the cheap multi-threaded performance is going to be more important than a the stronger single-threaded performance that the equivalent i5 would give you.
Monitor is 23.8", just a limitation of budget.

Added a cheap sound card that will give decent sounds, although most often there is little difference between on-board audio and cheap sound cards so you can drop $57. PSU is semi modular to make a neater build, you can drop to a non-modular like the XFX 550w , this will drop a bit of money with the card where you can buy an OS. Also you can find cheap gaming keyboards and monitors on local classifieds and save a decent amount of money.
SLI or Crossfire may not work well on this budget, considering the peripherals you have to buy. Also remember that you have to buy MS Word/Office which is $130+, so budget for that.
