I have a (self)built computer running windows 7 home premium with a radeon 6950 graphics card. i have a panasonic TV running off HDMI and a samsung S22C350 running off VGA. this worked properly for about 6 months. then I loaded Need for speed (single screen game), and the game crashed twice, as it crashed the second time my TV went black. And since then if I
a) have both monitors plugged in, only the secondary will have a display, but the sound will owrk on the tv
b) have either of them unplugged, then the other will work properly (as a single screen system)

i checked drivers for tv/secondary/video card, all were already up to date

I then used teamviewer to drag my control panel from my "black" tv to my secondary and changed the "extend display" to "duplicate display" and now both monitors are working properly "as duplicate displays" however nothing i change will"fix" the display. I cant change directly from duplicate screen to extend screen (if i do nothing happens) but if i switch to show desktop only on 1/2, it works how it should, and if i then switch again to "extend display" it reverts back to one monitor not working, but now its 50/50 which one is the "broken" one.

I cant deal with just having one monitor! please help! ( i hope i included enough info, if not please let me know!)

The first thing I would do is the simple stuff:

Unhook all the cables from your monitor and PC and then hook them up again. My monitor used to randomly go black, then come back, because the cable wasn't in 100%.

If it still isn't working, I would then uninstall all my drivers, and then reinstall them. Just because they are up-to-date, doesn't necessarily mean they are functioning properly. If that still doesn't fix it, try taking out your video card and run your computer off of the dedicated graphics.

Let me know if this fixes anything!
