Hi. My Mum has a Samsung NC10 netbook running WinXP. Didn't want to use it after April so I have just done a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit. Everything went well, all updates for Windows installed etc. Running smooth and stable except the display is very dim and I can't seem to find any settings to increase screen brightness. The function keys for brightness or anything else no longer work but I guess they were part of Samsungs Windows installation? Any ideas how to increase the brightness of the screen? Thanks in advance.

A Windows 7 install will install a program called Easy Display manager (from Intel?) but it is not the right one. You need to install Samsungs Easy_Display_Manager 3.0.3.5. This will give you back Fn Brightness and Sound
Install the drivers from Samsung support if you only are using the Windows 7 base setup. Chipset, and there should be a "hot key" driver or application. Although the brightness function keys should be working without additional drivers in the laptops I worked with, but those were not Samsung brands.

Thanks for the reply. Have looked at Samsung support and can find a chipset driver for Win7 and a driver/application for function/hot keys but only for WinXP. Found some other info that says the XP application might work ok in Win7 so will try this.

Hi boa99,
Just wanted to say thanks for the info. Found Samsungs Easy Display Manager 3.0.3.5, installed it and everything back to normal. Have been trying to solve this for ages and nobody else has mentioned that before so again I thank you very much indeed, cos' it has been driving me nuts trying to solve it.
