Alienware x51 into custom build pc!

hello guys
this is my first time on Toms hardware.

i bought my alienware x51 in 2012

SPECS
i7 clocked at 3440gh
16 gb ram
gtx 555.

i'm looking to upgrade my graphic card.
i'm wondering, can i use all the parts from my x51 like motherboard, hard drive, ram, everything except graphic card and buy a bigger case to put a better graphic card.

if that is not possible to do,
can u guys plz tell the best graphic card that i can fit in my x51. money is not a problem.
plz don't hesitate to ask any questions
thx guys, really appreciate it. :-)

  1. Don't see a reason why not. As long as your only changing case and video card. As long as your power supply unit is big enough to run what you put in it. And as to what you can fit. if you changing cases then if you get a big case then you should be able to put the biggest cards you can find in it if money is not a problem. But i'd say either go with a R9 290x or a GTX780 for video cards
  2. The Alienware X51's power supply is weak. Around 250-400 watts only if I remember correctly. What you should do is buy a new Case, Power Supply, and your choice of Video Card. By then, you will be rocking all the games you want.

if your going to be running a big card then i'd say run a 860watt psu. And cases are all up to you, we could go back and forth all day about them and never get anything done. That said I do like the Corsair c70 mid tower and it has the room to run bigger cards and a good bit of air flow with usb 3.0 front face support
