ATI GPU scaling only working without HDMI connected

I have a 5770,i wanted to get black bars on the sides for one of my games and the only way I could make it work is when I disconnected my HDMI TV cable from the GPU,why is that,could i somehow disable it with some button on Windows instead of disconnecting every time?

Also using a VGA cable, I used to have "My Digital Flat-Panels" in the drivers now i have "My VGA displays",idk why

Your TV's resolution and your monitor's resolution probably do not match. If you are "Duplicating" the displays, the monitor and TV will both run at a resolution compatible with both displays. In Windows 7, right click on your desktop and go to screen resolution. Under multiple displays, choose extend these displays.

Then you will be able to set the resolution independently. However, you will now need to go into the catalyst control center and adjust the scaling for the TV. This eliminates the black "picture frame" effect when plugging an HDMI cable directly to a graphics card. Just move the slider until the picture meets the edge of your TV screen.

If you want to game on your TV instead of your monitor, you will need to set the TV as your primary display before entering a game from the screen resolution menu (after right clicking on the desktop).

Yes,but in order for it to work with HDMI plugged in i must always have extended desktop,i hope this doesnt have a hit on performance
