Can you use the new A10-7850k APU in the Gateway DX4380G. I want to upgrade to a quad core apu to play World of Warcraft:Mists and the upcoming expansions at a good level. Please Help.

Solution
To change motherboard in simple terms: removal all Parts from the motherboard and unscrew, then screw new one in+put parts in

cpu> take out the older cooler/chip and then put the new ones on.

No, Unless your motherboard is FM2+ socket

This PC comes with an FM2 socket motherboard.

you could upgrade to a 6800k without changing motherboard. what's the Power Supply in that system? The 6800k/7850k eat a bit more power than the A6's

Is it a hard evolution to change out your motherboard and chip? What does that consist of?

ok, is there any rebooting, bios changes, or anything like that that has to be done in order to have the computer work or is it plug and play. I could change it out and power up and keep trucking along.

ok, sorry did not see you question. I have a 100W PS in there that I put in. The other reason I am debating changing the motherboard is to have more that 16gb ram. I was also considering putting a discreate GPU in there as well.

Okay, I'll help you with this:

1. if you're adding a discrete chip do not bother upgrading to the 7850 or 6800k, Get an athlon 750/760K they will fit your current motherboards(the 750k is essentially a 6800k without a graphics unit but doesn't matter if you've got a discrete card

2. Your system will probably not need more than 8GB so I wouldn't splash out on 16GB

3. What is your case size as you'll need a bigger PSU for a discrete gpu
