I have a intel i5 3570 (3.4 ghz- 3.8 ghz at turbo) non-k processor, and I have read many articles on google, that it can be overclocked to 4.2 ghz. But the problem is here, when I enter my bios setup, I can only set the multiplier to 38, and when I restart my comp. I open Cpu-Z which says 3.8 ghz. I really want to push my processor..

Agree you should have bought a K. But... you should get some OC from your locked with Z75/Z77. Don't mess with the BCLK.

You would set the mutiplier to 38 and leave SpeedStep and Turbo on.

Download OCCT and check the clockspeed - it should be 1.6GHz. Then run a CPU stress test - it should clock up to 4.0GHZ across all four cores. If does then it's working at the limit of what the chipset and CPU allow - 4.0 on four cores, 4.1 or two or three cores, and 4.2 on a single core.

I dont think you will get the CPU frequency that high tbh you can set the BLCK to 103-104 some CPU's you will get up to 107 (cant remember which). Also (quoted from another post) "overclocking the Bclk speed also effects the PCI and PCIe speeds since the clock generator is on the chip. Devices riding on the PCI bus and PCIe lanes do not like to operate beyond the spec. The most notable devices are disk controllers in the form of BSODs and data corruption". So just be aware messing with it can cause some serious system instability.

So I should set it at 38 multiplier, and leave everything else on auto/enabled, as default.. And thats it? I will test it on OCCT in 10 minutes, I will post the results..

Okay, nothing happened.. still samme ghz with maximum 3.8 ghz, do you think it is my cpu or motherboard? or just me doing something completely wrong?
