Last night right before bed, I put my computer to sleep. When I woke up, I got to my login in screen (i have a password) and my icon wasn't showing up, which I thought was weird. I entered my password and logined in. Nothing loaded. It was just a giant black screen. I could hear my programs running, but I couldn't see anything. I turned my computer off, and now I can't get past the login in screen. It won't run in safe mode and I've tried repairing it but had no luck.

I've been reading around and someone said to replace the video card and see if it helps. Going to try that next.

Edit: forgot to mention it's a laptop

Solution
I fixed it! I checked the cables, and they were all good. I decided to try the repair setting once again, and once that was completed, my computer got past the logo screen. :D
Wait, your video card is perfectly capable of displaying the login screen, isn't it? Or did you mean logo? Either way, this means it's not the card's fault.

Check your power connections, especially the cables that go to the hard drives.

When I woke up, the login screen was displayed. I logined in like I normally would, but instead of seeing my desktop, I saw a black screen. I held down the power button and restarted my computer. And now its stuck on the logo screen. I'll check that and see if it works. thanks!

Wait, just to clarify. When you say you checked the cables, did you actually touch them, or just looked. If it's a bad cable, just touching it could have fixed the problem, but it will appear again eventually. See, just trying to repair again isn't likely to fix anything if you've already tried it before and it failed. You must have done something physically before you tried this second repair.

Anyway, if it happens again you may want to replace some SATA cable, or use a different power connector to feed the HDD.
